Here I am able to discuss with the client their desires down to background and atmosphere. By creating a composition based on both available personal images the client had and the introduction of 3D modeling, a composition is able to be formed, shown to the client and them moved onto painting using a digital tablet.

The project, 14x33 canvas, was to take the bits and pieces of old photos, badges, etc and put together a portrait of a gentlemans father who was a B17 pilot during WWII.

The introduction of 3D modeling of both objects, people and atmospheres, provides the modern artist the ability to create any place, time, or even weather condition. Compositions are often made up of items both modeled by the artist and those by other modelers who work at just creating 3D object for todays 3D artist. With an Architectural background, I tend to model buildings. In this case the plane, chair, and truck are all models that I have, the crew and pilots in the bachground are all modeled by me, as is the sign board, leaving the father and his crew for digitally painting from the supplied photos. The father has been repositioned and the better of the two closeups of him used to handle the face.
